Studies have revealed endemic species such as a moth Lysimelia
littoralis, a ladybird Stethorus proximus and a gecko Bayavia exsuccida.
Dry forests are home to a diversified fauna
of insects, molluscs, reptiles and birds. Recent Quaternary fossils indicate
of massive extinction of birds and reptiles, a major consequence of environment
regression.
